Quick Facts
World of Warcraft: Midnight is almost here, and Season 1 kicks off March 17. Two weeks after the expansion drops, the real grind begins.
Player Housing Finally Arrives
After years of requests, player housing is officially here. You'll unlock your homestead early in the Midnight campaign and can build it out over time with furniture, trophies, and cosmetic upgrades.
The cool part: housing ties into Season 1 progression. Completing M+ keys, raid bosses, and PvP milestones unlocks exclusive decorations and displays for your home. There's even a visitor system where friends can check out your place.
Expect the housing grind to be real. Rare drops, reputation unlocks, and profession-crafted items all feed into it. FFXIV players know what's up.
The Mythic+ Rotation
Blizzard is going with a split pool again for Midnight Season 1. Four brand new dungeons, plus four returning fan favorites:
New Dungeons: - The Underhold - Quel'Thalas Sanctum - Void Breach - Shadowmoon Mines
Returning Dungeons: - Siege of Boralus (BFA) - The Necrotic Wake (Shadowlands) - Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr (Dragonflight) - Halls of Infusion (Dragonflight)
Siege of Boralus coming back is going to make some tanks very happy and others absolutely miserable. You know who you are.
Shadowmoon Citadel Raid
The first raid of Midnight opens alongside Season 1 with Normal and Heroic difficulties. Mythic and the final wing of LFR unlock the following week.
Eight bosses total. Blizzard is being pretty tight-lipped about mechanics, but dataminers have already found references to a "void corruption" mechanic that spreads between players. Sounds like another "stack then spread" situation, which, yeah, classic Blizzard.
The tier sets look incredible though. Especially the Warlock set. Actually unfair how good cloth classes eat this expansion.
Gear and Item Levels
Here's what you're looking at for Season 1 gear:
- Hero track: 259-269 (M+6-7 drops, M+2-5 vault)
- Myth track: 272-289 (M+10+ vault, Mythic raid)
- Mythic raid drops: 272 base
- Great Vault cap: 272 from M+10 or higher
Champion track tops out at 256, so if you're pushing into Hero and Myth gear, you'll need to be running at least M+6 or Heroic raid. The jump is real.
Void Threads Progression
The big addition is Void Threads, a new progression system tied to the seasonal story. Think of it like Dragonflight's Renown but actually relevant to endgame. You'll earn Void Essence from M+, raid, and PvP that unlocks gear upgrades and cosmetics.
PvP Reset
New season means fresh MMR, new Elite set, and a new Gladiator mount. The Midnight Gladiator mount is a void-touched hawkstrider, and honestly it goes hard.
Conquest gear starts at 246 (Champion) and scales to 289 in instanced PvP. Rated Solo Shuffle is back with some tuning changes. Healers rejoice: dampening kicks in 10% slower now.
