About Phase 1

The Burning Crusade Classic Phase 1 marks the beginning of Outland content, introducing the Dark Portal reopening and the first tier of raid content. Players venture through the shattered world of Draenor, now known as Outland, to face the forces of the Burning Legion and Illidan's armies.

This phase establishes the foundation of TBC endgame with Karazhan as the entry-level raid, featuring iconic encounters like Prince Malchezaar and the Chess Event. The 25-man raids Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair provide challenging content for organized guilds, while the extensive dungeon system offers both Normal and Heroic difficulties for smaller groups.

Key additions include Blood Elf (Horde) and Draenei (Alliance) playable races, the Jewelcrafting profession, 12 new reputation factions, and the introduction of daily quests. Heroic dungeons require Revered reputation with associated factions, creating meaningful progression paths for endgame players.
